We believe personal style can be discovered from any corner of the world — and at Accoutrements LA, we’re inspired by the traditional crafts of the Philippines. Though we’re based in Los Angeles, we’re passionate about sourcing one-of-a-kind pieces from Filipino artisans who spin indigenous designs into of-the-moment luxury accessories. The result: A curated online boutique offering globally-inspired statement pieces that blend seamlessly with any wardrobe.
An interior designer by trade, Lisa Upton founded Accoutrements LA to promote and bring the beauty of Filipino craftsmanship to the next generation of fashion lovers. Using her refined eye and design training, Lisa curates the finest accessories that are both timeless and unique.
In addition to shopping with us online, we can be found at LA’s many stylish pop-up markets. See where we’re headed next by following us at @accoutrementsLA.
Throughout centuries, artisans in the Philippines have used age-old techniques and locally-sourced materials that are naturally sustainable — today, the descendants of these talented craftspeople are behind the woven straw bags and accessories found in your favorite designer boutiques. We curate products made by the same artisans from the same communities ensuring the quality and traditional methods are maintained in the design.
We also take pride in representing designers who use unconventional materials like upcycled laminated foil pouches (as seen in our “Capri Sun” bags), recycled plastic, seashells, and reclaimed metals, to name a few.
At Accoutrements LA, we’re proud to support Filipino makers by showcasing their culture and artistry to a global marketplace. We are committed to partnering only with brands that offer quality products, adhere to sustainable and ethical manufacturing standards, and support local communities by providing jobs.
The daughter of a tourism attaché, Upton grew up in the Philippines and Spain and has called Los Angeles her home for over 25 years. She holds a master’s degree in interior design and has worked on projects for the Four Seasons Hotels, Peninsula Beverly Hills, and St. Regis Hotels, to name a few. She founded Accoutrements LA after a chance visit to a trade show focused on made-in-the-Philippines products which opened her eyes to the quality, craftsmanship, and beauty of accessories made in her native country.
“I went to check out the furniture, but fell in love with the fashion accessories they were also promoting,” she says. “I decided right there and then when I picked up a Mele + Marie minaudiere that I had to start a boutique as soon as I returned to LA. I came home inspired with a luggage full of handbags and jewelry. Here I am, a year later, still in awe every time I go back and discover a new designer and find exquisite accessories.”
